Carpool is a new video game studio based both in Paris and Montpellier, with a passion for creating the most innovative and exciting multiplayer games.

Our first project is a brand-new hybrid genre mixing strategy and fast paced action into a PvP experience. But more than a game, our objective is to create a new IP with transmedia opportunities to expand our narrative and go beyond the video game market.

Job Purpose
As a junior technical artist, design and implement pipelines, features and tooling on Unreal Engine 5 that will help the different content teams fulfill their needs on different areas of the game, with the game performance targets in priority.
Reports To
Technical Director Engine
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain UI screens and widgets, including the data exchange with game systems.
- Develop and maintain in-editor tools that meet the content teams needs.
- Develop and maintain pipelines for asset functionalities, from import time, in editor use, and in game packaging.
- Write robust and maintainable blueprints to achieve all these goals, collaborating with the tech team in case new blueprint nodes are needed.
- Develop techniques and/or tools to help the content teams respect game performance targets.
Skills and Knowledge
- Great communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Extensive experience working with game pipelines, and its modules, middleware and other associated pipelines.
- Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, including blueprints.
- Experience with UMG and Common UI in Unreal Engine a plus.
- Experience with scripting languages like Python is a plus.
- Significant knowledge of common algorithms, data structures and patterns a plus.
- Proficiency in data management software ( Perforce ) and its application.
- Proven ability to debug defects of a reasonable complexity.
- Experience with 3D modeling and texturing tools is a plus.
Relevant Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in programming or equivalent experience is a plus.
- Has contributed to at least 1 title as a Technical Artist.
- Experience using Unreal 4 or 5 is mandatory.
