Python Engineer – Sydney (Trading Platform)

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Python Engineer to join the flagship high-frequency trading platform team at a world-renowned proprietary trading firm. Based in Sydney, this role offers the chance to be part of a high-impact team driving innovative technology for global financial markets.

You’ll be the first engineer in Sydney for this team, so we’re seeking someone with a strong technical background and excellent communication skills. You’ll collaborate closely with the team based across Singapore and the US, with some travel required early on to get you up to speed. Once established, travel will be less frequent, allowing more flexibility.

What You’ll Do:

• Build and improve research and trading infrastructure.
• Collaborate with global teams to enhance system performance.
• Apply your expertise to solve complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Key Requirements:

• 5+ years of Python development experience, particularly with large distributed systems.
• Experience working on live platforms (such as real-time trading or tech environments like Google).
• Comfortable in a start-up or smaller firm atmosphere, with a self-directed approach.
• Senior or staff engineer level, ideally with a background in SRE or software engineering.
• Data or Machine Learning platform experience is a big plus, though not required.
