Automation Engineer (All levels)
About Ceres
Ceres Holographics is at the forefront of developing Holographic Displays for exciting new applications, particularly in the automotive sector. We are developing new paradigms for in-car displays, including Holographic Transparent Displays. These will transform the driver and passenger experience, turning a car from a mobility tool into a fully connected information and entertainment environment.
We are deeply engaged with leading global OEM and Tier 1 companies to turn these applications into standard in-vehicle equipment. We have developed unique capability around holographic applications and the manufacturing toolset, including digital holographic mastering and high-volume roll-to-roll holographic replication. We are further building the engineering team to succeed with these opportunities, and scaling for success with global customers.
Job Title
Automation Engineer (All levels)
Role Summary
We are seeking an Automation Engineer to help drive our cutting-edge capability to the next level. Our custom digital toolset and technology demonstrator suite is under continual expansion and improvement. This includes, for example, developing the automation elements of:
• Next generation holographic Digital Master Printers
• Roll-to-Roll holographic replication equipment
• Automated Test Equipment
• Associated software operational infrastructure
• Technology demonstrators
We are currently seeking a strong candidate to help develop this capability to the next level. They will further develop our existing automation toolset, and play a key role in developing next generation tools, digital infrastructure and demonstrators. The candidate will work closely with our expert engineering and operations teams to accomplish this. They will also deal with suppliers, contractors, and customers where appropriate.
This is a rewarding role for a candidate who enjoys living in a tightly coupled software, digital and hardware environment, and who understands the importance of developing that environment to the benefit of the business. They will naturally enjoy team collaboration, with the reward of seeing their output being directly used by the wider team and customers. This is an opportunity to help shape our digital roadmap.
The Automation Engineer will report to the Director of Engineering, and be based at our newly developed site in Livingston, Scotland.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate is likely to be degree qualified in a technical subject, such as Computer Science or another technical field. This is not mandatory; demonstrable relevant experience will be favourably considered.
We will consider all levels for this role, with the applicant able to demonstrate the relevant depth of experience and impact. We anticipate that the applicant will have experience in a high-tech work environment, ideally within a growing company.
Experience with any of the following subjects is directly relevant:
• Programming, interfacing, software control and release
• Control systems, including motion, robotics, cameras, sensors and actuators
• Embedded systems
• Database development and deployment
• Machine development, deployment, and support
Additional experience in other fields, such as electronics, process development or manufacturing engineering will be considered very favourably.
Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who can be autonomous, with the maturity to take ownership for projects and move them towards success. At the same time, there is a need to be an effective team member, sometimes working simultaneously on more than one project with the team.
There is scope for enhancement and growth in this role, as the company grows.
Benefits Package
An attractive package is available for the right candidate, including a competitive salary, contributory pension scheme, bonus scheme and healthcare. Relocation expenses may also be available where appropriate.
We anticipate that the candidate will be based on site in Livingston, to facilitate effective team working.
