API Security Gateway Engineer (relocation to Belgium) in PORTUGAL

We are seeking a talented API Gateway Engineer willing to relocate to or currently located in Brussels, Belgium.

The ideal candidate will work closely with web squads to design, install, manage, and support API Infrastructure. This role involves developing and maintaining security policies, configuring API management platforms, and supporting clients in their digital transformation journey. The position requires a strong background in API gateway platforms, web security, and collaboration across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless API integration and security.

Key Responsibilities:

API Infrastructure Management:

• Design, deliver, and support the integration layer between operating systems and business applications for B2B, B2C, and web information exchange solutions.
• Deploy, configure, and monitor Axway/Apigee API Gateways, focusing on the integration of web applications in both intranet and DMZ environments.

Security Policy Development:

• Engineer B2B gateway and API security policies using Axway API Gateway Policy Studio.
• Develop policies for data routing, URL rewriting, request/response conversion, throttling, IP whitelisting/blacklisting, and database integrations.
• Implement endpoint security using API Key, OAuth 2.0, SSL, and basic authentication methods.

Automation & CI/CD:

• Implement API Gateway CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab.
• Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation and operational efficiency.

System Administration:

• Install, configure, and manage Axway API Gateway, API Manager, and Cassandra databases on Linux servers.
• Optimize system performance, resource utilization, and monitor server health with tools such as Dynatrace, Kibana, Logstash, and Filebeat.

Performance & Security:

• Conduct vulnerability assessments, manage patch updates, and ensure system compliance with security policies.
• Perform continuous performance tuning, proactive monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure system stability and high availability.

Collaboration & Documentation:

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and business analysts to design and implement secure API solutions.
• Establish and document installation guidelines, policies, procedures, and customer-facing technical documentation.

Qualifications and Experience:

Mandatory Skills:

• 5+ years of IT Security Engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience with Axway API Gateway systems (v7.7.x preferred).
• Hands-on knowledge of Axway API Gateway Policy Studio, API Manager, API Portal, and API Analytics.
• Proficiency in web security concepts, including REST, SOAP, firewalls, load balancers, DMZ, and anti-virus systems.
• Strong experience in securing endpoints (API Key, OAuth 2.0, SSL).
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools like Jenkins and GitLab.
• Proficiency in Linux environments and scripting (e.g., shell scripting).

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Apigee Edge for API design and management.
• Knowledge of KPS architecture and Cassandra database optimization.
• Basic understanding of JavaScript, Groovy, or Core Java.
