Alex Solutions is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our Scanners Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data platforms, ETL processes, and BI tools, with expertise in SQL, Python, and regular expressions. This role involves developing and enhancing our metadata extraction and processing framework, creating configurations for specific technologies, and ensuring high performance and reliability.
Day to day activities:
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
- Work with large datasets and a variety of databases to ensure data integrity, quality, and accessibility.
- Develop and optimize logical and physical data models to support efficient ETL and data processing workflows.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure data solutions meet their needs.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues in ETL pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
- Leverage scripting and programming knowledge (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate processes and manage custom data transformations.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and implement best practices for data engineering.
Technical Skills:
- Deep knowledge of SQL and its application for data extraction, manipulation, and optimization.
- Prior experience in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL processes.
- Extensive experience working with a broad range of databases (e.g., relational, NoSQL, cloud-based).
- Exposure to a wide array of technologies used in data engineering and data pipeline management.
- Ability to design and implement efficient logical and physical data models.
- Understanding of debugging concepts for troubleshooting ETL processes and data issues.
- Familiarity with scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, Java, or C# (advantageous)
Soft Skills:
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex data sets and extract meaningful insights.
- Problem-Solving: Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in handling and processing data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Communication: Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Skills for working with cross-functional teams.
- Project Management: Experience in managing projects, timelines, and deliverables. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira.
Experience and Education:
- Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: Previous experience in software development, data engineering, or a similar role.
