Intermediate Software Engineer in PHILIPPINES

Wombat Safety Software is a Canadian-based SAAS company specializing in safety and compliance software for industries such as construction, oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, and municipalities. With a fully remote team, we pride ourselves on being a small yet mighty group that is passionate about delivering high-quality solutions to our clients. We're seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer to help build and enhance Wombat (our product). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud-based development, Firebase, microservices, and a passion for writing test cases. This position will primarily focus on backend services and architecture but will involve frontend contributions as well.

Responsibilities:

• Write test cases and debug code, troubleshoot, and collaborate with the Support team to ensure client satisfaction.
• Design, develop, and maintain Wombat, our SAAS product.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to gather feature requirements and implement them.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest development technologies, and suggest improvements when appropriate.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 6+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with various programming paradigms (OOP, functional).
• Proficiency in the following languages and frameworks:
• Typescript & NodeJS, React
• HTML, CSS, and web standards
• Preferably, experience with Go, Rust, C++, C#, or Java
• Familiarity with build tools (Webpack, Vite, rspack, esbuild, etc.).
• Experience with cloud-based services, infrastructure, and development (IaC).
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB (NoSQL mindset).
• Strong knowledge of version control systems (Git).
• Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Puppeteer, Playwright).
• Experience with CI tools (GitHub Actions).
• Understanding of token-based authentication and identity providers.
• Familiarity with Kanban/agile practices.
