About the role
We are seeking a talented Graphic Designer with Accessibility Expertise to join our client’s team. In this role, you will create visually compelling and accessible designs for digital and print media, supporting eLearning initiatives, marketing campaigns, and digital platforms. You will ensure all design assets adhere to accessibility standards and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver inclusive, high-quality design solutions.
As a key advocate for accessibility, you will play an essential role in shaping the visual identity and ensuring that our resources are usable and enjoyable for all audiences.
Key Responsibilities
• Design Excellence: Create visually engaging materials for eLearning modules, websites, social media, marketing campaigns, and more, while ensuring a consistent brand identity.
• Accessibility Compliance: Ensure all designs meet or exceed accessibility standards, including WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), ADA, and other relevant regulations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with instructional designers, developers, and content creators to deliver accessible and innovative design solutions.
• Accessibility Testing: Conduct thorough testing of design assets for accessibility, incorporating feedback to enhance usability for individuals with disabilities.
• Templates & Style Guides: Develop accessible design templates and style guides to be used across eLearning platforms and other digital projects.
• Research & Innovation: Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and best practices in accessible design, ensuring GitHub remains at the forefront of inclusive design practices.
• Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, delivering high-quality work on time and within scope.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3+ years of professional graphic design experience with a strong portfolio showcasing accessible design work.
• Deep understanding of accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG, ADA) and their practical application in graphic design and eLearning.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, XD) and Figma or similar software.
• Experience designing accessible digital content, including alternative text, color contrast adjustments, and typography for accessibility.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
Preferred:
• Certification in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, WAS, or similar certifications).
• Experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers) and their interaction with digital design.
