Your Role

As an IT Specialist at MiCRO, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of our technology platforms while supporting product operations. Your work will ensure robust, scalable solutions that drive our operations and empower communities. Beyond technical expertise, you’ll engage with stakeholders and a multi-disciplinary team to create impactful, user-centered solutions.

Core Responsibilities

Platform Development & Maintenance

• Build, optimise, and maintain scalable platforms to ensure strong performance and security.
• Regularly implement updates and patches to enhance functionality.

Product Operations

• Manage operations to ensure seamless delivery and sustained performance post-launch.
• Collaborate with DevOps for smooth deployments and quick resolution of operational challenges.

Troubleshooting & Debugging

• Diagnose platform issues and resolve them promptly.
• Conduct code reviews and support peers in debugging tasks.

Business Analysis

• Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for platform improvement, innovation, and problem-solving.
• Translate business needs into technical specifications.

Team Collaboration

• Partner with cross-functional teams, including developers, data analysts, and business managers, to enhance workflows and methodologies.
• Contribute actively to Agile processes such as sprints and retrospectives.

Key Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in PHP (CakePHP or Laravel frameworks preferred).
• Advanced Python skills for scripting, data processing, and automating workflows.
• Strong front-end skills in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and experience with libraries such as jQuery or React.
• Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems.

Database Management

• Proficiency with MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Problem Solving

• Analytical and troubleshooting expertise to navigate complex technical challenges.

Communication

• Proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred) with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Azure, including CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with secure coding practices and addressing vulnerabilities (SQL injection, XSS, CSRF).
• Familiarity with performing security audits and implementing patches.
• Background in microfinance, insurance, development work, or financial modelling is a plus.
