Our search-focused SEO operation is looking to expand its content team by recruiting an experienced SEO content writer who is passionate about creating high-quality content optimised for search engines. But the content should also contribute value and be helpful to the end-user too. It's a balance.
You will be writing for clients in a wide range of industries, primarily eCommerce, Saas and local lead gen — giving you days filled with variety and opportunities to continuously learn and grow.
You'll be focused on creating new content and improving existing ones. Additionally, there's an opportunity to proofread and edit content created by other team members.

Responsibilities
- Produce engaging long-form content & metadata optimised for SEO and User Experience (UX). These are mostly eCommerce category & product pages. But can also be new blog content.
- Research and plan each content piece. You will be given a Surfer SEO brief and Client Specific Guidelines that highlight important information, but you will be responsible for researching each topic and planning the structure & creative direction of each page.
- Proofread and edit your content to ensure quality control before submitting it to our Senior Editor for review.
- Be open to feedback on your content to help you improve your writing and ensure the copy meets the client’s brand requirements and marketing goals.
- Manage your workflow within Trello and communicate clearly with other members of the team to ensure any issues are resolved and content is completed on time.
- Continuously improve your knowledge of SEO content and understanding of each client’s industry and target audience to ensure copy meets best practices & client expectations.
- Work as part of a team to ensure all work meets our quality standards while taking ownership of your own role and responsibilities. Teamwork is dreamwork.
- Work on multiple briefs and tasks simultaneously. You will have the freedom to decide which pieces you work on at a given time as long as they are completed by the due date.
Requirements
- English speaker with strong linguistic abilities
- Exceptional writing skills. You will need to provide a portfolio with written content that showcases your skills and experience
- Reliable research & fact-checking skills
- At least 2 years of professional writing experience
- A passion for search engine optimisation (SEO)
- An understanding of eCommerce content
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to interpret and follow briefs to a T
- Strong & Reliable WiFi connection
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication skills
Advantageous
- Experience using Ahrefs, Surfer SEO & Neuron Writer
- Experience using Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce - different eCommerce platforms
Logistics
- Salary between ZAR 18,000–20,000 depending on experience
- You will be a subcontractor and entitled to 10 days of annual leave (sick / holiday)
- Fully remote role - based anywhere in Cape Town
- Permanent / 40 hours per week
- You will work alongside copywriters and copy-editors and report to the Director
