About Arcanys

Arcanys is a privately owned 300+ people company, with about 280 software engineers, QAs, PMs, BAs and designers in the Philippines.

While looking like just another technology outsourcing firm, Arcanys is at the forefront of the industry, both helping startups and mid-sized companies to scale their development team, and making meaningful financial investments in early stage startups with its Arcanys Ventures arm.

With a pace of about 10 new investments per year, the majority of them are in Australia. There has been a growing need to hire technical team members in Melbourne or Sydney, starting with two people, a senior architect and a senior product manager.

What’s this role about?

We are investing in tech startups that need engineering teams. Our contribution is usually a whole team of 3-4 software engineers and a few part-time people, in exchange for equity. Sometimes, the product management function may be weak and we need someone with extensive experience in web applications to take that role.

Ultimately, you may become a “fractional” product manager working for 2 to 3 of our clients at the same time, and occasionally handling short term missions. Search for Arcanys Ventures Portfolio to have a sense of the companies we are helping.

We are flexible with hiring someone at 50% or full-time. We care more about finding people with the right skill set and mind set, with a preference for full-time. But if you can’t for now, 50% is a good way to start working together.

What are the required skills/conditions?

Non-negotiables

  • You must be residing in Melbourne or Sydney or have the ability to meet people in person in one of these cities on a regular basis (without an added cost of long distance travel to us). If you don’t meet this criteria please do not apply! We need someone who can meet our investment companies and clients in person.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in an applications development environment, including 5 years as a Product Manager or similar role in a software-focused company.
  • Strong technical background and understanding of software development processes (agile methodologies, scrum, etc.).
  • Must have permanent Australian residency (ability to work without visa sponsorship)

Other requirements

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Extensive experience conceptualizing a variety of online B2B and B2C software products and platforms.
  • Early career spent as a business analyst or UI/UX designer is a plus
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with diverse teams.
  • Experience working with outsourced teams preferred.

What are the responsibilities?

  • Define product vision and roadmap based on market research and customer feedback.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to translate product requirements into actionable tasks.
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog to ensure timely and efficient delivery of features.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights on customer needs and preferences.
  • Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and development teams to facilitate effective communication.
  • Lead product launches and coordinate cross-departmental efforts to ensure a successful rollout.

As a company focused on its people's satisfaction first (and clients’ in close second), we make a point to offer exciting work opportunities and foster a culture that everyone can meaningfully contribute to.

All of this wrapped into a great care for employees welfare, GreatPlaceToWork certified, Glassdoor ratings of 4.8/5, Clutch Ratings of 5/5.

Working conditions:

  • Mostly remote, with the occasional in person client meeting. If you prefer to work in an office setting, we have more than 10 investment companies in Sydney and Melbourne, and you could easily work at one of their offices.
  • Flexible working schedule. You can choose your working hours (within reason).
  • Work as a full-time or part-time employee (with super, etc) or contract employment - your choice
  • Annual trip to visit your colleagues in the Philippines (Cebu)
  • Flat management style and open-door policy - no micromanagement and your voice is being heard.
