Overview
As EDC aims to be the leader in helping all Canadian exporters go, grow, and succeed internationally, the Corporate Data and Insights team strives to maximize the performance of our business teams by arming them with the skills, insights, and tools they need to succeed. As part of the Enterprise Analytics and Forecasting group, the Corporate Data and Insights team is seeking an individual contributor to enhance the breadth of its corporate data assets to allow the corporation to make faster, smarter, and more well-informed decisions.
As a data analyst/senior data analyst, you will be responsible for providing in-depth reporting and analysis on business results that help to drive informed decision making. The candidate will have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and translate business data into digestible information that provides insights and improves corporate processes. A strong communicator, they will not only have a natural curiosity to understand why things are happening but the ability to explain that to different audiences. The successful candidate should possess deep analytical skills, a results focused approach, while striving for quality improvement to impact business results and customer experience.
Discipline Summary
- Perform all aspects of the data lifecycle including consulting with business users to ensure articulation of business requirements, translating the requirements into viable solutions, testing of the developed solution and deployment to the necessary environments.
- Develop analytics, forecasting, and actionable data insights on corporate data.
- Determines the best source of information to suit the users’ needs.
- Ensures the functionality, security, availability, and accuracy of the information provided to end users of data.
- Develop and maintain in depth reporting and analysis for the lines of business.
- Work across functions to develop relevant metrics and reporting to support decision making processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Determines the best source of information to meet the users’ needs and develops queries and reports.
- Creates standardized and curated data sets with data virtualization tools for creating advanced analytics and dashboards.
- Provides analysis of query/report output for clients and/or conducts statistical analyses, interprets results, and writes reports to explain findings.
- Identifies data integrity issues and determine feasible solutions and maintains documentation, templates, procedures, processes, building codes, and standards relating to data.
- Performs all aspects of the data lifecycle management including consulting with business users to articulate requirements, translating the requirements into viable solutions, testing and deployment of solutions.
Screening Criteria
- Undergraduate degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline.
- Level 15: Minimum 2 years of experience of Business Intelligence and reporting principles and practices.
- Level 16 Minimum 2 -5 years of experience of Business Intelligence and reporting principles and practices.
- Minimum 2 years of Data Analytics experience.
Assets
- Experience with Data virtualization software, such as Denodo.
- Experience writing SQL queries (Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle).
- Experience with Data Transformation tools such as Databricks, DataStage, Microsoft Fabric, or Azure Data Factory.
- Experience using R and/or Python for analytics and data preparation.
- Experience using Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Cognos Analytics, or Tableau) .
- Experience with SAS Enterprise Guide.
- Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
Compensation
- Data & Analytics 15: Salaries typically range from $62, 336 to $83, 116 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
- Data & Analytics 16: Salaries typically range from $71,063 to $94,752 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive

- Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
- This role will be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
