About the Role
Contact Energy is at the forefront of New Zealand’s renewable energy transformation. Our Major Projects Team is delivering groundbreaking initiatives in wind, battery energy storage, solar, and geothermal energy. We’re looking for a Senior Project Planner / Scheduler to play a key role in planning and managing project schedules for some of the country’s most complex energy infrastructure projects.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Project Schedule Development and Maintenance: Develop and maintain comprehensive schedules, ensuring alignment with project goals, incorporating stakeholder input, and addressing deviations.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Work with Project Management, Engineering, and external teams to capture details, promote communication, and align schedules with financial forecasts.
- Advanced Scheduling and Risk Management: Use advanced techniques like CPM, time impact analysis, and Monte Carlo simulations to evaluate progress, mitigate risks, and conduct schedule risk assessments.
- Progress Tracking and Reporting: Set up and maintain progress tracking frameworks, including the rule of credit and other best practices, to accurately track project progress and ensure reliable reporting. Provide regular updates and reports on schedule progress, critical path analysis, and Earned Value Management (EVM) to identify and address performance gaps.
- Continuous Improvement and Site Engagement: Contribute to process improvements, share knowledge, and ensure schedules remain practical and actionable by engaging with stakeholders and assessing project progress on-site
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum of 15 years experience in large-scale infrastructure project delivery, including construction planning.
- Proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 and MS Project, managing complex schedules of 1,000+ activities.
- The ideal candidate will understand Project Controls processes, standards, procedures, and best practices. This knowledge is essential for efficiently managing scheduling, cost control, and risk management while ensuring consistency, compliance, and successful project delivery.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and dependencies, with experience in renewable energy projects being an advantage.
- A collaborative approach and ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including Mana Whenua.
- AACE or PMI certification (e.g., PSP) is a plus.
