The office of Terry Young MP is seeking applications for a full-time ongoing Office Administrator (EOB) based in the Longman Electorate Office in Caboolture, QLD.
The key duties of the position are, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the Member’s Diary, strategically curating the diary to ensure value for time.
- Manage the office finances ensuring compliance with parliamentary business resources framework.
- Manage the Member’s Inbox including filing and categorising for the Member’s attention and other office employees.
- Manage staff contracts, leave and other administrative functions.
- Oversee and ensure correct use of office processes and procedures.
- Provide assistance with electorate and campaign events and activities, including outside normal office hours.
- Assist with strategic advice, direction and implementation of key electorate and portfolio priorities and communications.
- Assist with constituent enquiries and case work including researching and preparing correspondence in response to constituent enquiries and portfolio matters.
- Photography/videography at events on a rotational basis.
- Oversee and manage operation of office facilities and equipment, ICT, supplies and other matters.
- Other duties as directed by the Member.
The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:
- Work experience in a related role.
- A strong understanding of the local community.
- Experience in government/politics will be highly regarded.
- A keen interest in and understanding of Australian Government and the parliamentary process.
- The ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet competing deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Demonstrated IT proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:
- A commencing salary between $74,095 and $86,506will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills
- An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
- Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
- An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable
An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
The successful applicant will be required to comply with the Behaviour Code for Staff employed under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984.
The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
