Senior Data Scientist
Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of data science? We are seeking a talented Senior Data Scientist to become a vital part of our dynamic Data Science Team at Bayer Consumer Health. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in implementing global, cutting-edge advanced analytics solutions across commercial, product supply, marketing, and R&D domains.
Our diverse, international team, spanning Poland and Germany, is dedicated to managing the entire product life cycle – from proof of concept to the seamless operation of fully industrialized products. We pride ourselves on delivering innovative solutions that leverage traditional Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Mathematical Optimization, all powered by a modern tech stack featuring Python, Azure and Databricks.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Creates, employs, evaluates, optimizes, and maintains machine learning, time series forecasting, mathematical optimization, generative AI, simulation, and NLP models that deliver actionable insights and meet business objectives.
- Extracts valuable information from large structured and unstructured datasets, identifying key variables and metrics that influence consumer behavior, commercial activities, product supply, R&D and RMSQC.
- Builds prototypes to prove modeling concepts.
- Industrializes and scales up successful advanced analytics prototypes into IT products.
- Creates intuitive and interactive data visualizations, reporting tools and dashboards to communicate complex analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as enable scenario creation and management.
- Develops generalized frameworks and libraries for repetitive data science activities.
- Participates in exploratory projects that investigate new data sources, tools, and analytical techniques, keeping Bayer at the forefront of data science in the consumer health sector.
- Builds data processing pipelines, analyzes data used for modelling and performs other data related activities if required.
- Manages code in Github repositories and performs peer code reviews.
- Fosters a culture of continuous learning within the data science team, taking active part in workshops and training sessions to share knowledge and skills.
- Presents compelling data driven stories to all levels of the organization, including peers, senior management, and internal customers to drive both strategic and operational changes in the business.
- Acts as a subject matter expert in data science, advising on best practices and emerging technologies that can enhance Bayer Consumer Health’s data science capabilities.
Qualifications & Competencies (education, skills, experience):
- Master’s or PhD degree with 5+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields.
- Proven educational background or applied experience in at least one of the following: Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance/Economics/Marketing, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or other related quantitative disciplines.
- Very good proficiency and practical experience in machine learning, generative AI, forecasting, and mathematical optimization.
- Very good knowledge of data science tools, libraries, frameworks, and platforms: Python and/or R, SQL, spark, Azure, Databricks, Github, MLFlow.
- Ability to write production grade code using object-oriented programming paradigm.
- Proven track record of developing advanced analytics products within a cloud environment and delivering valuable analysis through the application of domain and business knowledge.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Interpersonal and communication skills, active listening, consulting, challenging, presentation skills.
- Fluent in English, both written & spoken.
