API Gateway Engineer (relocation to Belgium) in PORTUGAL

We are seeking a talented API Gateway Engineer (B2B) willing to relocate to or currently located in Brussels, Belgium.

As an API Gateway Engineer (B2B), you will work closely with web squads to design, implement, and manage the API infrastructure. You will play a critical role in maintaining security policies, ensuring efficient API Management, and supporting digital transformation through API solutions. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration, requiring interaction with architects, engineers, and business analysts.

Responsibilities:

Design and Integration:

• Architect and deliver integration layers between operating systems and business applications for B2B, B2C, and Web solutions.
• Integrate web applications into Web Infrastructure for intranet and DMZ environments.

API Management & Security:

• Engineer and implement B2B API Gateway and security policies.
• Configure, deploy, tune, and monitor Axway / Apigee API Gateways.
• Develop complex policies using Policy Studio and CI/CD workflows.

Operations & Support:

• Provide production support, including incident, problem, and change management (+ on-call rotation).
• Assist in securing endpoints using OAuth 2.0, SSL, Basic Authentication, and API keys.
• Optimize system performance through proactive monitoring and performance tuning.

Collaboration & Documentation:

• Collaborate with clients on digital transformation through API Management and Security.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for installations, policies, and procedures.
• Share best practices and knowledge with colleagues.

Required Experience:

• IT Security: Minimum 5+ years of IT Security Engineering experience.
• API Gateways: At least 2 years of Axway API Gateway system support.
• Web Security: 3+ years in web security with comparable products (e.g., Axway API GW, Apigee, F5-ASM).
• Proficiency in Axway API Gateway Platform (7.7.x).
• Expertise in Axway Policy Studio, API Manager, Portal, and Analytics.
• Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP web services.
• Experience developing policies for data routing, URL rewrite, request/response conversion, throttling, and IP management.
• Hands-on experience in API design, documentation, and security.
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, JWT, Authorization codes, SSL, and Basic Authentication.
• CI/CD implementation using Jenkins and GitLab.
• Solid Linux experience, including shell scripting and Cassandra database management.

Additional Skills:

• Generic understanding of antivirus, firewalls, application firewalls, load balancers, DMZ, and networks.
• Proficiency in monitoring and logging tools (Dynatrace, Kibana, Logstash, Filebeat).
• Experience in vulnerability assessments, system migrations, and upgrades.
• Strong documentation skills for technical processes and system configurations.
