Position Summary:

The Payroll Specialist will be instrumental in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple Canadian regions. This role requires an individual with deep experience in payroll operations, regulatory compliance, and system reconciliations. Proficiency with Workday payroll systems is essential, as the Payroll Specialist will manage various payroll functions and provide support to employees. A meticulous approach to detail and a passion for continuous process improvement are key to success in this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing & Accuracy: Manage and review payroll runs to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all federal and provincial regulations.
  • Employee Transactions: Administer employee transactions, including stock option exercises, RRSP matching, and other payroll-related activities.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure payroll processes adhere to Canadian regulatory standards, including timely filings and accurate reporting for multiple Canadian regions.
  • System Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll data across multiple systems, maintaining precise financial records and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Employee Support: Respond to payroll inquiries with a high level of customer service, providing clear and timely support.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, HR, and other teams to streamline payroll processes and resolve any payroll-related issues.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and system integration.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience, with a focus on payroll management across multiple Canadian regions.
  • Workday Proficiency: Proven expertise in Workday payroll systems is required.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and compliance standards.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to perform complex data reconciliations across payroll platforms and adapt to various software tools.
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in managing payroll records and transactions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to support and address employee inquiries effectively.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
