Data Scientist in IRELAND

Athena Analytics provide software the “Athena Tracker” to educational institutions. This software uses machine learning to identify a student’s potential. The student’s performance throughout school is then tracked against this for the purpose of highlighting when they dip below their own unique potential and may require some additional support. Any role at Athena Analytics will suit someone who is passionate about improving the education experience in Ireland for all involved, someone who has a keen interest in data science and it’s applications and someone interested in growing enterprise in Kerry.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Data Scientist who has a keen interest in the application of predictive modelling to web-based realtime software and/or content recommender engines. As we are a small but growing new company we are looking for someone who wants to be hands-on in the business, someone who enjoys facing challenging data science problems and coming up with their own solutions. You should have experience and training in Python, including pandas and python plotting libraries and experience and training using SQL.

We are also investigating some modern-AI related projects.

This job is a hybrid role with at least 2 days/week to be completed in our office in Tralee, Co.Kerry. Fully remote applications will also be considered.

Python, specifically:

• Pandas for data wrangling
• LightGBM for modelling (scikit-learn/xgboost or general machine learning)

Some qualification in statistics or Data Science, or experience in a relevant role

SQL

Machine learning general concepts

Content recommender engines

Docker for deployment

Experience using RStudio and Rshiny

Experience using LateX

The most important requirement for this role is a keen interest in the power and applications of machine learning.
