We are recruiting on behalf of a leading African sports betting brand for the position of Head of Product and UX. This role requires a dynamic leader with deep expertise in User Experience (UX), mobile-first product development, and a strong understanding of the African iGaming market.
The Head of Product and UX will be responsible for overseeing a team of product and UX specialists, guiding the entire product development lifecycle from concept to launch. This position plays a critical role in delivering world-class user experiences for millions of users across Africa. A strong foundation in UX will be essential for shaping and driving the design and development of key product experiences.
The successful candidate will inspire their team, encourage problem-solving and independent thinking, promote collaboration and innovation, and lead with a proactive and positive mindset.
Location: Fully remote, with a preference for candidates within two hours of the GMT+1 time zone.
Travel: Occasional international travel, up to 3-4 trips per year.
Responsibilities:
As Head of Product and UX, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Product Strategy & Vision: Define and drive product strategy, aligning it with business goals and focusing on user-friendly experiences for the African iGaming market.
- Team Leadership: Manage and lead a cross-functional team of Product Owners, UX/UI designers, and UX researchers, promoting collaboration with technical teams.
- User-Centred Product Development: Use UX expertise to design intuitive and engaging mobile experiences, incorporating user feedback into the product development process.
- Product Processes: Implement and refine product management processes, ensuring best practices for roadmapping, prototyping, and testing to drive faster time-to-market and continuous improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, marketing, BI, and operations teams to ensure smooth product launches and clear communication across departments.
- Problem-Solving & Accountability: Foster a hands-on approach to problem-solving, encouraging a ‘can-do’ attitude within the team.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Use data analytics and customer feedback to drive product decisions and optimise product features based on performance metrics.
- Market Research & Competitive Analysis: Conduct research and analyse trends within the African iGaming market to ensure competitiveness and innovation.
- Compliance: Ensure all products comply with local regulations, responsible gambling practices, and industry standards across various African markets.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head of Product, Product Director, or a similar senior leadership role in sports betting, iGaming, or fintech.
- Strong background in UX/UI design, with the ability to translate user insights into actionable product features.
- Deep understanding of the African iGaming landscape, including regulatory environments and customer behaviours.
- Experience managing the full product lifecycle from ideation to launch.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
