About the Role:
We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator with expertise in SQL Server, MySQL, and Windows Server administration for our Global Operations team in Tokyo. The ideal candidate will excel in both database and server administration, particularly in cloud-hosted environments, bringing strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills to the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Administration (SQL Server & MySQL):
- Oversee SQL Server (2014/2016 to 2022) and MySQL (5.7 to 8.4.2 LTS) database environments.
- Implement clustering, replication, backup, and recovery processes.
- Execute system upgrades, patches, and migrations; ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
- Automate processes with PowerShell, Python, and UNIX shell scripting.
- Engage in SQL and T-SQL development, including CRUD operations, joins, subqueries, stored procedures.
- Server Administration (Windows/Linux):
- Administer MS Windows Servers (2016/2019/2022) across cloud and physical settings.
- Perform server deployment, configuration, backups, and performance tuning.
- Conduct disk management, antivirus updates, and data recovery.
- Preferred Web Hosting & DevOps Knowledge:
- Manage e-commerce and dynamic/static websites on AWS, GoDaddy, and Namecheap.
- Utilize DevOps tools (e.g., Bitbucket, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with hosting technologies like IIS, Apache, Nginx, and Tomcat.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Preferred Certifications: AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA/MCSE, RHCSA, Oracle Linux OCA.
- Experience: 8+ years in SQL Server DBA, 6+ years in MySQL DBA, with database security and performance tuning expertise.
