About Your Role

The QAL Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a two-year program, that is designed to provide graduates with a variety of professional experiences to ensure that by the end of the two years you have developed the skills necessary to become a productive member of the QAL team, actively contributing to and improving the business’s performance.

This role allows a degree qualified Information Technology / Computer Science / Engineering graduate to broaden skills, apply knowledge and gain practical experience in a diverse industrial environment through exposure to the broad range of functions across site. This is achieved by having multi-disciplinary rotations, a personalised development plan, and a coaching and mentoring support network of subject-matter experts.

There will be a wide range of learning opportunities and you will learn on the job skills while working on site in a fast paced and supportive environment.

Reporting to the Supervisor – Information Services, the key role responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with site health, environmental and community policies, systems and procedures
  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of QAL process, plant operations, procedures and safe work practices
  • Identifying opportunities for information system improvements and enhancements which ultimately advance overall QAL capability and performance
  • Performing software development and maintenance on existing systems and databases
  • Reviewing, monitoring and reporting on performance of information systems
  • Engaging stakeholders to scope project requirements, accurately value projects against business KPI’s, develop data-driven technology solutions
  • Effectively communicating and supporting stakeholders with the implementation of technology solutions
  • Primary focus on information technology/systems and services while providing cross-coverage capability to the Industry 4.0 team
  • Maintain user and system documentation

What You Will Bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you should have:

  • Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering (or equivalent degree) within the last twelve months or with an anticipated completion date before January 2024
  • A strong commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Knowledge / experience with Relational Databases, e.g. MS Access, MS SQLServer, and Oracle databases etc.
  • Knowledge / experience with Microsoft Operating Systems environments
  • Knowledge / experience with application support – Power BI, Excel (incl VBA), Power Apps
  • Ability to write code using at least one language, e.g. Python, R, C#, VB etc.
  • Knowledge on managing Office 365, SharePoint & other aspects of Microsoft Suite
  • Reviewing, monitoring and reporting on performance of information systems
  • Data-driven mindset including development, monitoring and troubleshooting KPI’s against target
  • Displays process-oriented thinking through identification of process improvements to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Data analytics skills incl. statistics, regression analysis, transformation / data cleaning, machine learning would be advantageous
  • Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to effectively work as an individual and within a team environment
  • Willingness to face and find creative ways to overcome new challenges
  • Ability to consistently meet established deadlines
