Job Purpose
As the People Manager at Zumo, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of a compliant, inclusive, and empowering remote-first culture. You will lead people operations for a hybrid workforce across the UK and Europe, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and managing employees through an Employer of Record (EoR) model. In this standalone HR role, you will take on several operational responsibilities previously held by the Chief People &Culture Officer (CP&CO), while other strategic activities will require close collaboration with the Leadership Team. You will ensure the smooth running of HR operations, drive employee engagement, and contribute to the company's growth by working alongside the Leadership Team to deliver on key people strategies.

Requirements
Key duties and responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of HR operations, including: offer and employment contract, onboarding, performance management, and off boarding for employees in the UK and those employed through the EoR model in Europe
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and industry-specific regulations, particularly in the crypto and financial services sectors, using platforms like Deel for HR management and engagement
- Support the hiring process, including job specification creation, advertising roles, and managing recruitment through the Application Tracking System (Workable)
- Act as the primary HR contact, providing advice and support to managers and employees across the business
- Oversee the optimisation of HR systems, including Deel.com, Workable, and Figures.HR, ensuring they deliver value, enhance team collaboration and streamline processes
- Manage core HR service providers and suppliers, including relationship with our Legal Counsel firm MBM, overseeing contract renewals and ensuring service levels are met
- Manage and maintain People space on Companywide knowledge system, Confluence.
- Lead employee engagement initiatives and foster a positive work environment, aligned with our remote-first ethos
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team to deliver on key people strategies, including talent acquisition, retention, and development
- Support HR-related projects such as policy development, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and compensation reviews
Key Competencies/Experience/Attributes/Motivators
Must-Haves:
- Demonstrable experience managing HR in a regulated industry, with particular expertise in working with an Employer of Record (EoR) model
- Strong proficiency with HR digital tools, especially Deel.com, Workable, Figures.HR and Confluence or similar
- A self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously in a standalone HR role and adept at problem-solving
- Proven ability to navigate complex compliance requirements, particularly within regulated industries
- Passion for creating an inclusive and empowering workplace where employees can thrive
Optional:
- Experience working with international teams across multiple European countries and managing varied employment laws
- Familiarity with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles
- Previous experience in a high-growth start-up environment
