Principal Embedded Software Engineer in United States

Job Summary:

Our client, a leader in the U.S. defense industry, seeks a Full Time Embedded Software Engineer IV in the Santa Barbara area. This role, a perm hire and NOT open to C2C, involves designing, developing, and supporting software solutions for various defense projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in embedded development, possess strong communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead technical projects independently and supervise other engineers
• Apply software engineering principles to create solutions meeting project needs
• Review customer specifications and develop designs to support them
• Participate in code reviews and testing activities
• Drive technology advancements and ensure project completion on time and within budget
• Design, develop, and support testing of products and systems
• Provide technical input for design assignments and support proposal preparation
• Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite - work from home Monday and Friday

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with minimum 8 years of experience
• Strong fundamentals in embedded development and algorithm design
• Primary development language is C++
• Proficiency in C, C++, C#, and/or Java
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to travel up to 25% as required
• U.S. Citizenship and active DOD security clearance or ability to obtain

Note:

Candidates local to Santa Barbara preferred, with relocation assistance provided as long as you live in a 4 hour radius. The work schedule includes every other Friday off, providing additional 26 days off throughout the year.
