Responsibilities:
- Provide 24/7 on call production support on rotation basis
- Additionally, the DBA with experience working on Sybase ASE
- Planning, Installing and configuring a database platform
- Planning, designing and creating databases
- Planning, designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster
- Maintaining and monitoring the database platform
- Implementing performance tuning on the databases based on monitoring
- Re-balancing workloads across database servers based on monitoring
- Securing databases platforms and individual databases based on requirements and implementation
- Experience automating processes with Perl and Bash Shell Scripting
- Experience with network troubleshooting and electronic file processing
- Working knowledge of EDI and file transfer protocols including FTP, SFTP, SSH, FTPS
- Working knowledge of PGP or other encryption tools
- Understanding of IP address networking, permissions and access, and light hardware familiarity
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and remediate complex technical issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively and excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills to a variety of situations
- Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel to meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and schedules.
Mandatory Skills Description:
- 3+ years of extensive experience in Sybase ASE (working as Sybase Database Administrator)
- 3+ years' experience working in Unix/Linux environment
- 3+ years of networking experience with focus on server interconnections
- Experience of T-SQL / SQL
- Previous Financial experience preferred for this role
- Strong Sybase database administration experience in ASE version 12.5,15.x,16.x and
- Strong experience in Sybase installation, configuration, maintenance on Solaris and Linux platforms
- Strong experience in cross-platform Sybase ASE
- Experience in Sybase Warm standby, ADHoc and replication setup and support
- Proficiency with optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in database tuning, to ensure that applications run efficiently and reliably.
- Thorough understanding of software development life cycle.
- Familiar with hardware technologies like VMware, SRDF and SRM used for database HA/DR solutions
- Experience administering a large enterprise database environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Should have ability to work independently.
