Knowness is an angel-backed EdTech & AI startup, valued at £2.5 million, on a mission to make learning accessible to everyone. Since joining the University of Birmingham's startup incubator in 2024, we have gained access to world-class resources and support.
We are now looking for a Software Developer with strong WordPress and PHP experience, to join our team and take on a critical role in developing and maintaining our WordPress site and web platform.
Role:
As a Software Developer at Knowness, you will:
- Develop & Maintain the WordPress Site: Manage and optimise our WordPress site to ensure it’s secure, scalable, and high-performing.
- Enhance Front-End Experience: Work with PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to ensure a seamless, responsive user interface.
- Collaborate with the Design and Product Team: Work closely with UI/UX designers and the product team to deliver smooth integration and user-friendly designs.
- Database Management: Use SQL to manage and optimise the platform’s database performance, ensuring data integrity and scalability.
Tech Stack Requirements:
- PHP (for WordPress development)
- SQL (database management)
- WordPress (site management and development)
- JavaScript, HTML, CSS (for front-end development)
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in full stack development with PHP and WordPress.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Strong understanding of database management with SQL.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
- A passion for building efficient, user-friendly web solutions.
Compensation:
This is currently an equity-only position, with the opportunity to transition to a paid role after reaching our revenue goals. None of the team, including the founder, are currently on salary, as we work together to build the future of education.
