Data Engineer (relocation to Belgium)

We are seeking a talented Data Engineer willing to relocate to or currently located in Brussels, Belgium.

Role Overview

As the Lead Data Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the Lead Data Architect to design, develop, test, and launch data features that support Client solution. These features include initiatives like Identity Fabric and the Privileged Technical Account Inventory. You will be responsible for creating and documenting an integrated end-to-end IdAM data model, ensuring data consistency, integrity, timeliness, and automation, all of which contribute to operational efficiency within the IdAM ecosystem.

This hands-on role involves building database objects, scripting with PowerShell, using ETL tools like IBM Datastage, and integrating with various systems via APIs. You will be instrumental in implementing and documenting repeatable, automated processes for both bespoke and off-the-shelf applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with colleagues across domains and external suppliers to gather requirements and design secure, optimal data solutions.
• Assist in creating and maintaining an integrated IdAM data model that ensures consistency, integrity, and automation across the IdAM ecosystem.
• Build database objects and extract/load data via SQL Server, PowerShell scripting, or ETL tools like IBM Datastage.
• Document solutions in Euroclear’s standard formats (e.g., High-Level Technical Design, Entity Relationship Diagrams, Detailed Technical Design) and obtain necessary approvals.
• Build and test solutions in test environments, ensuring formal testing stages are completed and signed off by stakeholders.
• Handover solutions to the IdAM Infrastructure Operations team, providing training, knowledge sharing, and documentation, including cookbooks.
• Provide support during the migration to production infrastructure, including warranty support, bug fixes, and handling change requests.
• Identify potential security risks during analysis and ensure mitigation strategies are included in the design.
• Design solutions with process automation in mind and make recommendations for enhancements.
• Collaborate with other projects with dependencies on the Privileged Technical Account (PTA) Inventory.
• Ensure compliance with Euroclear’s regulatory requirements in all activities.

Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Modelling, and Data Engineering (including experience with tools like ERWIN).
• 5+ years of PowerShell experience for automation in a Windows environment.
• 5+ years of SQL experience, especially with SQL Server, including writing and maintaining stored procedures for database extraction, loading, and transformation.
• Full software development lifecycle experience, including product launches and operational handovers.
• 1-2 years of experience with data dictionary and management tools (Collibra experience is a plus).
• 3+ years of hands-on ETL experience (IBM Datastage experience is a plus).
• Knowledge of additional database technologies (e.g., Oracle) is an advantage.
• Understanding of technology platforms such as Windows, Unix, Mainframe, and Networks.
• Experience with scheduling tools for automating routine tasks.
• Familiarity with operational production support in a Level 2/3 context, working closely with L1 using ticketing systems like ServiceNow.
• Awareness of security mechanisms across platforms like Windows, Linux, z/OS (RACF), Tandem, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, CyberArk, PowerBroker, and ServiceNow.
• Understanding of access control and management principles (e.g., segregation of duties, toxic pairs).
• Professional certifications in CISSP, CISM, or CISA are a plus.
• Creative, with the ability to see the big picture and design solutions accordingly.
• Proactive and problem-solving oriented, ensuring potential issues do not disrupt team functionality.
• Mandatory: English (excellent proficiency in both speaking and writing)
