Overview:
A well-funded and innovative startup is seeking a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to spearhead the development of AI-driven insights on people and companies. Our platform leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate comprehensive profiles, offering a digestible summary of everything there is to know about individuals and businesses-think AI-generated Wikipedia pages for everyone.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the machine learning efforts, focusing on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and transformers to enhance the platform's capabilities.
• Train and deploy state-of-the-art language models and integrate them into production systems.
• Collaborate with a small team of engineers and take ownership of the entire ML lifecycle.
• Optimize model performance for information retrieval, question answering, and other NLP tasks.
• Work autonomously as the sole ML engineer on the team, driving strategy and execution.

What We're Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on machine learning.
• Expertise in NLP, including transformers, language models, and information retrieval.
• Experience deploying models to production systems and optimizing their performance.
• Startup experience is required-this role requires working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
• Must be a top-tier engineer, capable of independent problem solving, decision making, and leading ML initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Base Salary: $200-275k CAD (up to $300k CAD for exceptional candidates).
