About The Role
In this role, you will be the responsible Product Manager for our software concept incubation team. The purpose of the role is to help push boundaries of the imaginable. The role serves as a critical bridge between concept incubation, software product management, and R&D, with the goal of delivering impactful, user-centric products and services.
In the longer term, you will help challenge reMarkable's software strategy and vision by fostering innovation and ensuring that concept incubation efforts stretch our thinking, while at the same time remain aligned with software development and product planning. You will also maintain continuity by overseeing projects as they transition from incubation to early stages of development, advocating for the original vision while allowing for evolution as concepts are refined. This role is key to ensuring clear, transparent, and actionable directions for product development, contributing to reMarkable's long-term success in the market.
About The Team
The role will spend day-to-day in and together with the software incubation team. It is a cross-functional team made up of disciplines stretching from a team lead, designers with expertise in concept development and creative technologists who are specialists in developing early mock-ups and prototypes. The software incubation team works at fast paced cycles where the aim is to ideate and explore new product and service concepts relevant for our current and future customers. Furthermore, the role is also part of the Product Management team, made up of Product Managers owning our different physical products as well as commercial management roles.
Role objectives
- Guide the software concept incubation teams in identifying and exploring new software product and service concepts outside reMarkable's existing value proposition and oversee concept incubation efforts as a key stakeholder
- Lead efforts to explore new business opportunities for reMarkable within the software space
- Evaluate and enhance new ideas from the Software Concept Incubation teams, maintaining an open and innovative mindset.
- Help stretch the boundaries of imagination of what future reMarkable software products and services might be.
- Ensure reMarkable stays at the forefront of innovation and expand our portfolio of software products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the priorities of the software incubation team, guiding the process from idea to transfer to execution. Ensure alignment with software incubation efforts and reMarkable’s overall product roadmap in hardware and software.
- Ensure concepts are transferred in a good way to execution and work closely with the Software Development organization to prioritize and execute on high-impact projects, ensuring that concepts move seamlessly from ideation to development.
- Act as the key bridge between the Software Concept Incubation team, Product Management, Software Product Management, Software Development and other departments like R&D. Ensure no duplication of efforts and maintain a unified product vision.
- Monitor and understand changes in market dynamics, emerging technologies, and consumer trends to inform product strategy, decisions and ideas.
- Manage and mentor other Product Managers. Mentor the Software Concept Incubation teams to strive for innovation and excellence.
We Are Looking For The Following Experience
- A background in Design (UX/Service Design) with practical experience in software product innovation.
- Hands-on experience in UI/UX design that has evolved into a focus on concept development and innovation management.
- Proven business acumen and commercial understanding, particularly around the monetization of software products and R&D initiatives.
- Experience in leading design innovation processes in complex organizations, with a proven track record of successful concept-to-product transformations.
- Experience with software development (especially B2C digital product development), particularly within digital-first companies.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, team leadership, and project management.
