Scope of the role:
As the Senior IT Specialist, you will play a strategic role in shaping the technological landscape of our client's company. This position goes beyond daily IT operations—your primary responsibility will be to architect and implement scalable, secure, and efficient IT systems that align with long-term business objectives. You will act as a critical partner to department heads and executives, ensuring that the company's IT infrastructure supports its business growth and operational excellence.
You will be responsible for designing the IT department from the ground up, and establishing processes, systems, and best practices to meet the company's evolving technological needs. Your strategic insights will drive cost-efficiency, enhance system performance, and reinforce IT security. This role demands a combination of hands-on technical expertise and leadership, as you will oversee software provisioning, systems management, IT security, and user and license management while also leading IT projects that impact the entire organisation.
Responsibilities:
IT Department Leadership:
- Independently design and lead the development of the IT department, building robust infrastructure and processes from the ground up
- Drive strategic IT initiatives and collaborate with various departments to support organisational growth
Software Provisioning and Systems Management:
- Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of software applications; ensure systems are up-to-date and functioning efficiently
- Ensure systems are up-to-date, optimised, and functioning efficiently
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
User and License Management:
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and licenses, ensuring compliance with the company's IT standard operating procedures
- Control and optimise software license budgets to prevent overspending
- Support Office Manager in managing hardware provisioning, configuration, and distribution
Helpdesk Management:
- Respond to and resolve IT Help Desk requests in a timely manner
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users
- Document and track helpdesk activities to identify trends and improve service quality
IT Security:
- Implement, maintain, and enforce IT security policies and procedures
- Lead security initiatives to safeguard the company's IT infrastructure
- Monitor security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and execute corrective actions
Project Management:
- Assist in planning and executing IT-related projects, ensuring that timelines and requirements are met
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project delivery
- Maintain project documentation and regularly report progress to the IT Director
Requirements
- C1 English level, with excellent verbal and written communication skills (Must Have)
- 5+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar role. (Must Have)
- Strong knowledge of software provisioning, systems management, and IT security best practices. (Must Have)
- Self-sufficient, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. (Must Have)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to lead complex projects
- Relevant IT certifications are a plus (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Security+) (Nice to Have)
- IT Team Development: Proven experience in building and scaling IT teams, including recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring IT staff to meet organisational goals
- SOP Creation and Implementation: Strong experience in developing and executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for IT operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and compliance with industry standards
- IT Strategy and Leadership: Demonstrated ability to define and implement IT strategies and roadmaps that align with overall business objectives, driving technological growth and innovation
