Roamr is on a mission to unlock the globe. We want to help teams either get paid while travelling or travel for free.

We’re a corporate travel accommodation platform that helps companies lower spend on corporate travel by paying employees instead of hotels. We’re disrupting a $1.3Tr industry, with a solution nobody has ever built. Hotel prices are growing at 10% yoy and teams are becoming increasingly distributed. Bringing colleagues together has become more and more difficult, until now.

We’re moving fast. Having joined forces in April 2023, the Founders Jason and Stephen built and shipped our product to paying customers within 7 months. Since then we’ve landed partnerships with some of the biggest Future of Work players (including Deel, Oyster and Remofist).

About the role

Join us as our first hire on the technical team where you will report directly to the CTO and have a huge input in helping build the product, team and company!

You will help take business requirements and design new features in a scalable and testable manner.

This role will also involve interacting with users to gather feedback and provide support and helping Roamr achieve product market fit, fast.

What You’ll Do

• Shape the product: Work hand-in-hand with our founders to turn ideas into a product that disrupts the corporate travel industry. Design the long term vision of our internal technology footprint with us.
• Innovate rapidly: Help us iterate quickly based on feedback from customers and users. You’ll be instrumental in launching new features that address user needs and enhance their experience. Produce clean, well-documented, and beautiful code as part of a high performing, agile software team.
• Build and scale with quality: Architect and develop Roamr’s platform from MVP to an Enterprise Grade solution, ensuring scalability and reliability as we onboard more partners and users. Promote best practices to improve the quality of our code and processes.
• Collaborate: Work closely with our small, high-energy team, shaping the culture and future direction of the company driving technical decisions within the team.
• Being an Owner: You’ll have skin in the game. We want our team to not just “think like owners”, we want you to be owners and expect real desire and effort in our success.
• Being adaptable: This is an early stage startup and things are constantly being refined & tested. You’ll be building our product but will wear many hats as needs arise including but not limited to; Customer activation, Product Strategy and Roadmap Planning &User Research. Some of this we’ll do as a collective to hone a single vision, others aspects you’ll take full ownership of.

About you

• 4+ years of web application software engineering experience, preferably stronger on frontend
• Experience with modern PHP frameworks (for example Laravel, Symfony)
• Experience with modern JS frameworks (for example React, Angular, Vue)
• You’re hyper-ambitious, have an ability to execute independently, constantly learning & looking to make an impact.
• Strong experience with Relational Databases, MySQL, and writing SQL scripts
• A passion for risk-averse development, testing, and release processes
• Strong teamwork, leadership, and time management skills.
• Passionate about agile practices, personal improvement, and working in concert with a high performing team.
• Business level English fluency required (verbal and written skills).
• You get shit done

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a fast paced startup environment
• Experience with UX/UI design
• Travel industry experience is a plus but definitely not required!
• Experience working with a remote-first and globally distributed team.
• Experience with Azure
• Experience with Github Pipelines
• Experience with Atlassian products [Jira/Bitbucket].

The Hiring Process

Four steps:

1) Loom Video Intro

2) Interview

We’ll do a deeper dive on your background and give you the opportunity to get to know our business a little better

3) Scenario testing

Little bit of a capability test here - hop on a call with the CTO where you will do some pair programming

4) Culture fit

If its practical, we’d like to meet some of the final candidates in person and spend some time together for a coworking day/evening meal. We’ll cover the costs or come to you. Bonus points if you find a stay on Roamr!
