We are looking for people to join us in developing artificial intelligence and machine learning based solutions, tactical battlefield situational awareness applications, and cybersecurity technologies. As part of our team, you will be developing initial prototype technologies and transitioning these technologies to operational use.
What you will do:
Work with a small team on cutting-edge research and development projects
Design and develop prototype software using the latest open-source technologies
Receive and incorporate feedback from end users, field tests, and exercises
Explore technical possibilities collaboratively with motivated, world class colleagues
Deliver practical solutions to complex problems
What you need:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s or higher in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 4 years of prior experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and
Strong Programming Skills, And Experience With Java And Python
Passion for software engineering practices
Creative problem solving and ability to build rapid prototypes
Excellent communication skills
Position may require some amount of overnight travel
Additional Skills that would be AWESOME:
Experience with software development using Java
Experience with Android
Experience with front and back-end package managers such as NPM, Yarn, Webpack, Gradle, Maven
Experience with continuous integration (Jenkins) and modern deployment strategies (e.g., Docker)
Previous work with situation awareness software, e.g., Android Team Awareness Kit (ATA)
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Our Information Exploitation (IX) group is seeking experienced professionals for exciting research positions in its Arlington, VA office. In support of chiefly DoD and Intelligence Community missions, BBN’s Information Exploitation (IX) group specializes in the development and deployment of cutting-edge third-wave AI solutions to enable the advanced machine reasoning needed for the fully autonomous trusted systems of tomorrow.
What You Will Do
Within IX, we combine structured semantics with mathematical formalisms to enable explainable decision making, sense-making and course of action analysis in real-time.
You will lead our space segment, supervising all aspects of our complex, classified programs, from capture, to program management, and execution, including planning, setting priorities, leading proposals, and managing programs. A successful candidate will need to possess exceptional technical leadership and organizational skills, with a proven ability of leading other senior technical staff, including Technical Fellows.
You will lead the development of sophisticated, end-to-end space systems architecture, and support both current and future space-based programs for DoD and IC customers, balancing your SME experience in the space domain with technical engineering knowledge.
As a senior leader, you will help grow the space segment business, managing relationships with both IC and DoD customers, shaping future work and developing new programs.
What You Need
- Typically requires a BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent discipline and 10 years of experience; or an Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent discipline and 7 years of experience
- Current and Active TS/SCI Clearance. US citizenship is required
- Strong experience designing and implementing applied research / rapid prototype space and space c2 ground systems for DoD or IC customers
- Strong analytical skills, including use of simulation and modeling tools
- Experience in machine reasoning, semantic graph technologies, data analytics, or artificial intelligence technologies
- Proficiency developing full stack software applications written in Java, Python, C++, or Javascript as either a data scientist, software or systems engineer
- Ability to lead and work with scientists and engineers at multiple seniority levels to derive and explain solutions to complex problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Requires occasional overnight travel

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
