Role Overview:

We are seeking an entrepreneurial Full-Stack Engineer to join our team as our first technical hire. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the technological future of our company, work hands-on with the cutting edge of AI, and make a significant impact on the social care industry.

You will work closely with the co-founders to:

• Understand and Enhance our existing technology infrastructure across our three products; emma core, emma generate, and emma analytics.

• Lead Scalability Efforts to support the growth and demands of both our SME and enterprise sized clients.

• Advise and Implement improvements using modern technologies to build upon our existing systems where beneficial.

• Contribute to AI Projects by bringing a strong interest and understanding of Generative AI and articulate key concepts within our solutions.

• Embody an Entrepreneurial Spirit by taking initiative, working independently, and helping to build out our future tech team.

• Help Develop Native Mobile Applications (iOS and Android) to expand our product offerings beyond our current front end when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

• Analyse and optimise our current systems and infrastructure.
• Recommend and implement scalable solutions to meet client requirements.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies to keep our tech stack cutting-edge.

Product Development:

• Lead full-stack development projects from concept to completion.
• Ensure all products meet high standards of performance, security, and user experience.
• Transition our web app into native iOS and Android applications when needed.
• Support on technical documentation and testing to ensure robustness and efficiency.

AI Integration:

• Collaborate on integrating Generative AI capabilities into existing and new products.
• Be able to contribute to discussions and provide insights on AI trends and how they can be leveraged within our solutions.

Team Building:

• Help establish the company's technical culture and best practices.
• Mentor future team members and contribute to the hiring process as we grow.

Strategic Planning:

• Participate in high-level decision-making to align technology initiatives with business goals.
• Provide technical insights during client engagements and presentations.

Experience:

Background:

• Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role (~ 3 years)
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience and proven expertise in software development (self-taught developers with relevant experience are encouraged to apply).
• Experience building your own start up or product is a huge plus!

Technical requirements:

• Full proficiency in Python (Flask) with other backend languages being a bonus (e.g. Java, C#).
• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP); familiarity with AWS or Azure as well is a nice to have.
• Experience with both relational (MySQL) and non-relational (Firestore) databases.
• Experience in building scalable infrastructure for enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and serverless computing.
• Containerisation and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Understanding of DevOps principles and infrastructure as code (IaC).

Frontend & Mobile Development:

• Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design.
• Strong skills in HTML and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Knowledge of cross-platform mobile app development using React Native or Flutter, or willingness to learn.

API Development & Security

• Proficiency in using, designing and implementing robust RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles to ensure data protection and compliance. Working in a highly regulated industry makes this critical.

AI Expertise:

• Strong interest in Generative AI with the ability to understand and articulate key concepts.
• Experience working with LLMs, LangChain and other AI technologies.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch is a bonus.

Location: Remote (Ability to be in London is preferable)

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Equity
