About The Role
This role is perfect for a web developer with a proven track record working in startups or fast-paced environments, particularly within Australian marketing agencies. You’ll assist with both ad hoc web requests and contribute to larger projects, ensuring high-quality results for clients. The ideal candidate should be comfortable navigating the unique challenges of startups, such as fast project cycles and frequent pivoting, while delivering effective web solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Handle ad hoc web development tasks including troubleshooting, content updates, and technical fixes across various client websites.
- Collaborate with marketing, design, and content teams to implement new web features and ensure alignment with client goals.
- Lead and contribute to larger web development projects, including website redesigns, landing page creation, and custom feature builds.
- Ensure websites are responsive, secure, and optimized for both performance and SEO, keeping pace with industry trends.
- Manage both front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end (PHP, Node.js, or similar) development tasks.
- Maintain and optimize content management systems, particularly WordPress, to ensure seamless client operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, cross-browser compatibility, and ensure ongoing site maintenance and security.
- Support integration of third-party APIs and services, ensuring client websites are cutting-edge and effective.
- Monitor and optimize website performance for an enhanced user experience and adherence to client expectations.
- Stay updated on the latest web development trends and technologies, with a strong focus on the Australian digital marketing landscape.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a full-stack web developer, with a focus on startups or fast-paced environments.
- Prior experience working with Australian marketing agencies or clients is a high prerequisite.
- Expertise in front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (and frameworks like React, Vue.js).
- Strong back-end development experience with PHP, Node.js, or similar server-side languages.
- Proficiency with WordPress development (theme customization, plugin development, and optimization).
- Experience working with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and how they relate to web development and site structure.
- Proven experience with API integrations and third-party service implementation.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud) and web app deployment.
- Familiarity with headless CMS solutions and e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce).
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git and project management tools.
