BI Test Engineer (Urgent) in UNITED KINGDOM

We are looking for an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Tester with strong SQL skills to join our financial services client on a fully remote, contract basis. The BI Tester will be responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and performance of business intelligence solutions, including reports, dashboards, and data models. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of testing methodologies in BI environments and experience working closely with development teams to deliver high-quality BI products. Familiarity and experience in the financial services industry would be a valuable bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

• BI Solution Testing
• Test BI solutions including data models, reports, and dashboards for accuracy, performance, and user experience. Validate that the data is consistent, reliable, and meets the business requirements.
• SQL Testing & Data Validation
• Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate data accuracy and integrity across different data layers, including the Data Warehouse, access layers, and BI tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Collaboration with BI Developers and Stakeholders
• Work closely with BI developers, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify testing needs, and provide feedback on BI solutions.
• Test Plan & Case Development
• Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for the BI environment, ensuring that all components of the solution are tested thoroughly.
• Documentation
• Produce detailed testing documentation, including test results, issues identified, and recommendations for resolution. Ensure that stakeholders are kept informed of testing progress and outcomes.
• Automation & Scripting (Optional Bonus)
• Utilize Python or other scripting languages (if applicable) to automate testing processes for BI solutions, ensuring efficient and scalable testing practices.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Proven Experience in testing Business Intelligence solutions, including reports, dashboards, and data models.
• Strong SQL Skills with the ability to write and execute complex queries for data validation and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of BI Tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent, and experience in testing their outputs.
• Experience with Data Warehousing and the ability to validate data at various stages of the data pipeline.
• Analytical Mindset to identify discrepancies and ensure the data presented to stakeholders is accurate and reliable.
• Communication Skills to clearly document findings and collaborate with developers and stakeholders to resolve issues.

Bonus Skills:

• Financial Services Experience with a solid understanding of financial data, reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Python Knowledge for automating testing processes or performing data manipulation.
• Cloud Platform Familiarity such as Azure or AWS for working with data warehousing solutions.
