Game Programmer in FINLAND

Remote 1 year ago

🚀 The Role

This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape a new game from its early prototyping stages within an agile start up environment. Your work will involve close collaboration with the team to bring our creative vision to life.

As one of our first Game Programmers, you'll have the rare opportunity to:

  • Pioneer innovative gameplay systems for mobile and cross-platform gaming
  • Make significant impact on a new IP from its earliest stages
  • Contribute to a project aimed at creating positive change through gaming

💼 Key Responsibilities

  • Build cutting edge gameplay systems, player interactions, and UI features using Unreal Engine 5
  • Work flexibly between Unreal blueprints and C++
  • Collaborate closely with the team to prototype, iterate, and create engaging player experiences
  • Write clean and scalable C++ code, with an understanding of how to optimize for different platforms, or a willingness to learn mobile-specific optimizations
  • Build and extend core game systems in a modular way that can be adapted for single or multiplayer experiences
  • Design systems to support long-term live service operations
  • Share knowledge of your Unreal and C++ expertise and best practices with the engine, with other team members

🔧 Who We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years experience in professional software development, preferably having contributed to at least one shipped game
  • Experience with C++ programming
  • Familiarity with game engines (experience in Unreal Engine is a plus, but we welcome experience with other engines and a willingness to learn Unreal)
  • Ability to break down features into tasks and work independently
  • Ability to think outside the box and adapt gameplay systems across different platforms
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills

🍦 Nice to Have

  • Experience in Unreal Engine and utilizing both blueprints and C++ to build gameplay systems
  • Experience shipping mobile, multiplayer, cross platform or live service games
  • Experience debugging mobile or platform-specific issues, and/or have familiarity with Swift (iOS) or Java (Android)
  • Experience with or interest in graphics programming
  • We value potential and a passion for mastering new skills just as much as we value experience. If you have strong core skills that will empower you to self-learn the tools and tech quickly on the job, then we would love to hear from you!

🌟 What We Offer

  • Direct impact on game decisions as an early team member
  • Work with cutting-edge technology, pushing the limits of what's possible in cross-platform gaming
  • Fully remote position with flexible work hours
  • Comprehensive compensation package including health benefits and stock options
  • Accelerated learning and growth in a dynamic, collaborative environment
  • Access to industry veterans and the vast knowledge base of our backer, Supercell
