Head of Legal (Min 10 PQE) – Leading Web3 Venture Capital Firm (HK based) in HONG KONG SAR

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, the Head of Legal will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the legal strategy of our firm. This highly visible position will entail managing a team of legal professionals and providing expert guidance on a wide range of legal matters, with a particular focus on venture capital, private equity, and Web3 investments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement legal strategies aligned with the firm's objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Identify legal risks and opportunities associated with investments and provide proactive advice to mitigate risks while maximizing returns.
• Lead legal due diligence efforts for investment opportunities, negotiate investment terms, and oversee the drafting and execution of legal agreements.
• Provide ongoing legal support to portfolio companies, including corporate governance, compliance, intellectual property, and regulatory matters.
• Manage and mentor a team of legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Stay abreast of regulatory developments in the crypto and Web3 space, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations across jurisdictions.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with external legal counsel, regulators, and industry stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with a focus on venture capital, private equity, and/or Web3/crypto investments.
• Essential prior experience with a tier 1 law firm, particularly within the VC/PE practice.
• In-house legal experience within the Web3/crypto investment space is highly desirable and will be very well-regarded.
• Strong understanding of corporate and securities laws, as well as emerging regulatory frameworks related to blockchain and digital assets.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of successfully managing teams and driving strategic initiatives.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Juris Doctor (JD)/LLB or equivalent legal qualification is required; additional qualifications or certifications related to blockchain, or cryptocurrency law are a plus.
