As an Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in integrating Distributed Energy Resources (DER) equipment via digital data exchange protocols, connecting systems such as battery storages, PV parks, controllable loads, generators, and other production & consumption equipment into our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) platform. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Integration:
Integrate and configure Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) for automation within the VPP platform
Connect and manage DER equipment, ensuring seamless integration into the VPP for regulation and monitoring purposes
Provide diagnostics support for data exchange and address regulation issues that arise during system operations
Technical and IT Integration:
Develop standardized and rapid integration workflows and methods for efficient system deployment
Collaborate with technical teams to ensure all systems are configured correctly and operate without issues
Manage the integration process from design through to on-site hands-on testing and commissioning of control systems
Client and Partner Interaction:
Work closely with clients to understand their automation requirements and ensure successful integration of their systems into the Fusebox platform
Educate partners and clients on technical aspects of automation and integration processes
Ensure end-user satisfaction by developing solutions that ensure error-free functionality
Process Improvement:
Continuously improve integration processes, implementing best practices to streamline operations
Collaborate with the product team to enhance the platform's capabilities in line with client needs and market developments
Requirements
Proven experience with PLC/RTU configuring and commissioning in the energy sector
Strong technical design experience in digital automation, monitoring, and control systems
Hands-on experience in integrating, testing, and commissioning control systems
Familiarity with Modbus and other industrial communication protocols
Well-organized and systematic approach, with strong project management skills
Experience with SCADA systems
Familiarity with Linux systems and network device configuration basics (switches, routers), firewalls, and VPNs
Knowledge of MQTT protocol and other industrial/IoT communication protocols
High-level proficiency in English and Estonian
