Speech Recognition or NLP Engineer in IRELAND

About the Role


In this exciting role you will work with the SoapBox Speech AI team to help scale the speech recognition platform for kids' speech. This involves the development of the existing and new products, data processing, modelling and evaluation using the latest advance in AI models.

You will be researching state-of-the-art technologies, contributing to the developing and testing of different EdTech solutions.

The Speech AI team is cross-functional, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to every aspect of the Speech Recognition architecture. We are welcoming both Speech AI and NLP experts to help to make the difference and improve the children’s learning experience.

SoapBox work with an Agile approach and team members can directly contribute to ideate and spec out the solutions to get to the best final Product.

SoapBox Labs is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland and we also have fully remote employees that work from different locations in the world.

The role is for a fixed term of 12 months.


Responsibilities:

  • Contribution to the on-going SoapBox projects to deliver more equitable and unbiased tools to be integrated in the Curriculum Associates EdTech offer.
  • Support in the training and testing of the AI models that drive the SoapBox speech engine.
  • Be proactive contributor to project-focused teams and committed to fulfilling project objectives.
  • Research and report on new technologies about EdTech and Natural Language Processing.
  • Participate in regular meetings to plan and report on project status.
  • Be flexible to learn and contribute on different parts of SoapBox ecosystem: infrastructure, products, research, data collection processing, modelling, and evaluation, etc.


Requirements:

  • A proven experience (PhD or equivalent) in one of the main Speech AI topics: Speech Recognition, end2end system, NLP, Language Modelling, Large Language models, and Foundation models
  • Experience with C++ and/or Python development and with ML tools such as PyTorch, Kaldi, newer generation speech frameworks (e.g. OpenAI Whisper, Nvidia NeMo, etc. )
  • Familiarity with code repositories (e.g. Gitlab or Bitbucket) and task management (e.g. Jira and Confluence).
  • Confident verbal and written communicator and presenter.
  • Eligibility to work in the country you are employed in.
  • Availability to travel to Ireland and the US for training and meetings.


Desirable skills:

  • Experience in end-to-end technologies for speech recognition.
  • Depth of experience in one or more areas of state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing (NLP): natural language generation, natural language understanding, part-of-speech tagging, syntax parsing, sentiment analysis, etc.
  • Experience with ML Ops environments.
  • Experience on speech or text AI technology, children’s speech and computer-assisted educational tools.
  • Experience with collection and processing of large data set (both text and speech).
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
