Team & Job Overview

EDC’s Credit Insurance Underwriting group is looking for dynamic and motivated individuals to assist Canadian companies succeed internationally. Working in close collaboration with both internal and external partners, the successful candidate will facilitate international trade by helping our customers protect themselves against the risk of non-payment from foreign companies.

As part of our team, you will work to support a group of talented and dynamic Underwriters and Broker Account Managers. You will actively participate in attaining the group’s performance and growth objectives and be engaged in continuous improvement to remove obstacles, enhance the work environment and improve the customer experience.

Reporting to the Director of Mid-Market Regional Underwriting, West, those filling this position are responsible for the efficient delivery of quality service for internal & external clients as well as prospects, pertaining mainly to the Portfolio Credit Insurance product.

Discipline Summary

  • Supports general business operations by providing various transactional support to Underwriters and Broker Account Managers, administrative support activities.
  • Identifies, enhances and follows specific processes and procedures to maximize the efficiencies of office workflows to which the support is being provided.
  • As a key member of the Mid-Market Regional Underwriting, West team RPCs will focus on behaviors and target measures that have a positive impact on the ARI program Growth and Sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in the delivery of insurance solutions provided by the Credit Insurance group
  • Work closely with underwriters’ and collaborate with all channels (MMB, Bank, Broker, Partnership, Digital) as required in support of acquiring new business and growing premium
  • Maximize the retention of existing business and conversion rate of new offers while remaining compliant with processes and guidelines and while minimizing claims
  • Leverage systems, including continuous improvement and capacity management, to create capacity to support growth and execution of key priorities
  • Produce the team reports and broker reports on weekly and monthly basis
  • Work at optimizing program underwriting, review and credit SLAs
  • Share capacity openly
  • Review, vet and Populate credit insurance applications in the corporate system of record for the transaction to be ready for underwriting
  • Prepares transactions within specified parameters, policies and guidelines; and
  • Manage data in customer management system and support data quality management (incl. quarterly DQ reports); act as Superuser – ensuring excellent data integrity and overall data governance is met
  • Support lead development, nurturing efforts and post-transaction activities (incl. Relationship Manager-Broker introductions)
  • Ensures that communications with intermediaries are properly archived and that all relevant information is documented (including actions taken, recommendations submitted for review, follow-up steps, etc.)
  • Follows up directly with partners and stakeholders on requirements pertaining to documents
  • Provides information to EDC’s stakeholders (credit approval listing, claims history, net claim premium, policy documents, etc.) while constantly adhering to processes to avoid confidential information breaches
  • Actively identifies opportunities or initiatives to improve internal processes to ensure optimal and value-added service to customers. The successful candidate will also play an important role in initiatives and projects which help support the regional and Broker strategies

Screening Criteria

  • Completion of secondary school
  • Minimum of 1-3 years (Regional Policy Coordinator) or 4-5 years (Senior Regional Policy Coordinator) of experience in administrative field with exceptional customer service
  • Strong knowledge in the operation of computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook/Edge and other related programs) and ability to work with computer-based applications
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and French

Assets

  • Undergraduate University degree or College degree
  • Knowledge of Underwriting and Credit Insurance processes
  • Experience in managing customer relations
  • Experience in a corporate or financial service setting

Salary Range

  • Regional Policy Coordinator (Credit Insurance Operations 12): Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $44,370 To $59,160.
  • Senior Regional Policy Coordinator (Credit Insurance Operations 14): Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $55,657 To $74,210.

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
  • This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Toronto, Missisauga, Montreal, Brossard, Laval, Calgary, Vancouver or Halifax.
