Our Pattern Room at NEXT Head Office provides a pattern cutting and sampling service to our creative product teams, using skills in 2D/3D pattern cutting and garment construction.
Your role
Are you passionate about fashion and eager to kickstart your career in garment production? We're offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Trainee to join our dynamic team, where you'll gain invaluable hands-on experience that will lay the foundation for a successful career in fashion retail and manufacturing.
In this role, you’ll dive into 2D creative pattern cutting, block development, and explore cutting-edge 3D simulation and virtual fitting. You'll get the chance to master sample making, working with a variety of industrial machinery, and gain a deep understanding of physical fit and pattern adjustments.
You'll collaborate closely with expert Garment Technologists, attend live fit sessions, and sharpen your problem-solving skills in product development. Immerse yourself in the world of digitising embroidery designs, stitching them out, and managing both our pattern and 3D digital libraries.
Time and workflow management will be key as you ensure deadlines are met, while also maintaining and administering machinery and supplies. Plus, you’ll get the exciting chance to attend conferences and exhibitions, staying on top of the latest trends and technical advances in the industry.

About You
We're looking for someone who’s passionate about garment construction and pattern cutting, with a creative eye for detail and an instinct for spotting trends. You’ll need to be confident in communicating with others and enthusiastic about learning and adapting to new skills in a fast-paced environment.
Ideally, you’ll have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field and a solid understanding of pattern cutting techniques, as well as experience with 3D software. If you're excited to bring your creativity and technical knowledge to the table, this could be the perfect role for you!
A team of Pattern Cutters and Sample Machinists work closely with Buyers, Designers and Garment Technologists to create samples of high quality that help to shape our ranges and ensure fit and quality across the supply chain.
The team are exposed to a range of exciting projects, most recently working on creating a 6ft train dress to help our Beauty team market a new product!
