Description

We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Database Administrator in the IT Services industry. The Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and optimizing MS/SQL 2019 databases in an AWS cloud environment, resolving database issues, and collaborating with 3rd party vendors. This is a fully remote role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the configuration and deployment of MS/SQL 2019 databases in an AWS cloud environment using RDS SQL Server Enterprise.
  • Identify and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks and slow queries.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive database health check processes to monitor and maintain the integrity, security, and performance of the database environment.
  • Collaborate with 3rd party vendors to manage the application running on the MS/SQL database and provide feedback for database-related improvements.
  • Manage databases that grow significantly each month, ensuring they are optimized to handle substantial annual growth.
  • Design and implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions to protect critical data.
  • Implement best practices for database security and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures to support ongoing management and future growth

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in the field of Database Administration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Strong knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding
  • Proven experience in data migration, transformation, and scripting
  • Experience with backup and recovery procedures
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Availability for on-call support on a rotating schedule.
