Crytek is looking for an exceptional Senior Character Artist to support the Hunt: Showdown team in our Frankfurt, Germany studio.

Relocation & Remote Work


For this position, you have one of the following options:


1. Come to our modern headquarters in Frankfurt and receive an attractive relocation package and have access to all of our benefits.


2. If you are already living in one of the following countries, we are able to offer you a permanent work contract and allow you to work remotely as an employee from there.

Responsibilities

  • Creating in-game characters from scratch following a concept art or art direction by keeping in mind and following the technical requirements.
  • Crafting textures needed to display a photorealistic human in game.
  • Working closely with Tech Art, Concept Art and other dependent departments throughout the character production process.


Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a Character Artist capacity.
  • Expert understanding of current game art processes, texturing pipelines, limitations and dependencies.
  • Good understanding of anatomy and representing anatomy in topology.
  • Strong skills on facial sculpting and knowledge of setup for facial animation.
  • Strong knowledge of 3ds Max or Blender, Photoshop, Substance Painter, Marvelous Designer and Zbrush.
  • Strong ability to create believable photorealistic human characters within a games engine.
  • Ability to creatively translate concepts, ideas into authentic characters with an attention to detail.
  • Good English communication and writing skills.
  • A positive, problem-solving and team-oriented attitude.
  • Be proactive, self-motivated and be able to work without direct supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of common real-time game engines.
  • The ability to manage and supervise mid-level and junior artists and willingness to carry out mentorship tasks.

All 3D Character Artist candidates must have a portfolio that demonstrates

  • A good eye for character design.
  • Keen eye on detail and realism.
  • Organic character elements (such as a human face) and non-organic character elements (such as metal armor).
  • Game ready garment assets using Marvelous Designer.
  • High polygon sculpting.
  • Texturing on game characters presented in real-time engines.
  • Ability to derive a well structured low-poly model from the high poly model.
  • Efficient UV layout for low-poly characters.


Pluses

  • Experience working on live service games.
  • Knowledge of real-time hair production using hair cards.
  • Experience with rigging, skinning or animation.
  • Traditional Art background (including self education) is preferred.
