Key Responsibilities
Own the optical subsystems, including sensor heads, camera modules, and windows, from concept to production and field support.
Design kinematic, semi‑kinematic, flexure, bonded, and retained mounts, controlling preload and stress birefringence.
Select housing, cell, spacer, and fastener materials to balance CTE match, stiffness, mass, machinability, corrosion, and cost.
Design for weapon recoil, gunfire shock, and gimbal slew loads, performing modal and structural FEA and correlating to test.
Create sealed, purged, and desiccated housings to protect optics from moisture, dust, and contaminants.
Develop alignment and boresighting methods and fixtures for multi‑sensor integration and repeatable production assembly.
Collaborate with optical designers to translate lens prescriptions into buildable assemblies and support STOP analysis.
Plan and execute thermal cycling, vibration, shock, humidity, and water‑ingress testing, closing loops on revisions.
