Position Description
We are seeking a skilled Data Business Analyst to join our dynamic team and support our customer's data platform team. The ideal candidate will have experience in data platform projects involving the ingestion of different data sources, data transformation, and analytics. This role requires a solid understanding of data analysis, data management, and business intelligence, as well as proficiency with SQL and Azure.
You will be supporting a team that is building data pipelines, performing data transformations, and managing a data lake within an Azure ecosystem, utilizing tools such as Databricks, PySpark , and more.
Location: This position is fully remote
Employment Type: This is a contract position with an expected duration of 6-12 months
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and objectives and document and communicate requirements.
- Identify, document, and integrate various data sources into the data platform, defining data ingestion workflows with quality checks.
- Define data transformation rules to ensure data is clean, consistent, and ready for analysis, and develop transformation scripts and pipelines in Python.
- Manipulate and analyze complex, high-volume data to highlight patterns and relationships and develop metrics, KPIs, and dashboards.
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, tracking progress, and identifying and mitigating risks and issues.
- Create comprehensive documentation for data processes and workflows, develop training materials, and conduct training sessions.
- Collaborate with product teams to define, refine, and document business requirements that translate into essential data needs. Effectively communicate these requirements to product owners and engineering managers.
- Work closely with Solution Architects and lead Data Platform stakeholders to integrate product solutions into the broader enterprise architecture and data flows.
- Partner with data architects and developers to relay requirements, monitor progress, and ensure the fulfillment of data and product requirements.
- Track project milestones and deliverables in an agile framework, ensuring alignment with overall project goals.
- Engage senior business leaders to provide regular updates on solution progress and milestones, ensuring adherence to project timelines.
Must Have Skills
- 5+ Years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in data-related projects.
- 3 + years of experience in Analytics and working with analytical tools
- Proficiency in using database querying tools and writing complex SQL queries
- Experience in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensional data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships
- Exposure to using Python for data processing with Pandas, NumPy, etc.
- Familiarity with one or more reporting tools, such as Tableau
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Ability to communicate analysis clearly and precisely
- Familiarity with data transformation modeling principles.
- Preferred experience with Salesforce, DBT (Data Build Tool), Fivetran, or Snowflake.
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of data ingestion, transformation, and analytics processes.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python and familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Exposure to Azure cloud services.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Knowledge of data governance and quality principles is a plus.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, especially Azure.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and data pipeline frameworks.
- Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations.
- Experience in project management or Agile methodologies.
