Join the SKAO Data Operations team at Jodrell Bank Observatory to support the development and operation of the SKA Regional Centre Network (SRCNet), a global data centre infrastructure for next-generation astronomical research. You will take technical ownership of deployment and day-to-day operation of SRCNet services, manage Kubernetes platforms, drive CI/CD and GitOps workflows, and ensure operational excellence and security. The role requires at least two years of professional DevOps/software engineering experience, proficiency in Python, and strong collaboration skills in a global, multicultural environment.

Key Highlights
Work at the SKAO Global HQ at the historic Jodrell Bank Observatory near Manchester, UK
Support the SKA Regional Centre Network (SRCNet) — a global Exabyte-scale data infrastructure for astronomical discovery
Collaborate with distributed teams across the UK, Australia, and South Africa with occasional international travel (~2-4 times per year)
Key Responsibilities
Work within the software engineering team at SKAO HQ and represent SKAO within the SRCNet Operations Group, communicating issues affecting global services and triaging bug reports
Take technical ownership of deployment and day-to-day operation of SKAO-owned SRCNet services, including monitoring, managing, and adapting services while maintaining the Kubernetes platform layer
Respond to and diagnose incidents and coordinate resolutions to ensure service stability
Plan and execute upgrades of platform components and deployed services across the service lifecycle
Maintain CI/CD and GitOps workflows to support deployment and improve release management processes
Drive operational excellence and security practices, improving observability, documentation, and security across SRCNet services
Technical Skills Required
Kubernetes Python CI/CD and GitOps
