Zeit AI, a YC-backed startup building an autonomous data engineer, is hiring its first People Operations Lead to own the employee lifecycle from recruiting to compliance. This role covers end-to-end recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, HR systems, and people processes, working directly with the founders to shape a fast-scaling team. Requirements include 2+ years in People Ops or Talent, hands-on ATS experience, German and UK employment law knowledge, and fluency in German and English.
Key Highlights
First People hire at a YC S24 startup, owning the People function from day one with direct access to founders.
End-to-end ownership of recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, compliance, and people operations across Germany and the UK.
Munich-based in-person role with relocation support, regular offsites, and a €5k referral bonus.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end recruiting in Ashby, from job postings and sourcing to screening, scheduling, and candidate follow-up.
Run hiring processes for technical and non-technical roles, including preparing offer slides and drafting employment contracts.
Own the candidate experience, including interview guides, scorecards, and debrief rhythms.
Manage onboarding, payroll with Project B, benefits, insurance, and headcount reporting.
Maintain HR systems and employee records, and provide metrics such as time-to-hire and headcount plans.
Ensure compliance with German and UK employment law, escalating to external counsel when needed.
Guide international hires through work permits, visas, and relocation to Munich.
Design feedback, performance, and operating rhythm processes with the founders.
Lead team offsites, events, and office management, and automate repetitive People Ops tasks.
