Senior technical role providing advanced Windows systems administration, Microsoft SQL Server database administration, and infrastructure engineering at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining enterprise server and database environments supporting mission-critical scientific and commercial applications. Requires a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of related experience, strong PowerShell and SQL Server expertise, and ability to work in both unclassified and classified environments.

Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, administer, and support Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server environments supporting mission-critical applications and services
Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server instances and databases, including database migrations and application integrations
Manage database backups, validate recovery procedures, and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions
Monitor and optimize database performance through query analysis, index maintenance, resource management, and troubleshooting
Administer database access, permissions, and security controls to protect data and meet institutional requirements
Ensure infrastructure and database reliability, availability, security, and compliance through proactive monitoring, patching, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management
Lead and support infrastructure projects by gathering requirements, evaluating solutions, assessing risks, and implementing secure, scalable technologies
Develop and maintain automation, scripting, and configuration management solutions to improve operational efficiency and system reliability
Collaborate with customers, software developers, cybersecurity personnel, database administrators, vendors, and other technical teams to deliver infrastructure solutions
Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, system inventories, and architecture documentation
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide after-hours support for mission-critical Windows Server environments

Nice to Have
Advanced Microsoft SQL Server administration experience in large-scale enterprise environments
Experience implementing SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery technologies such as Always On availability groups or failover cluster instances
Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, TimescaleDB, or other enterprise database platforms
Experience with AWS or other cloud computing platforms
Experience supporting AI/ML, GPU, HPC, or scientific computing environments
Experience implementing STIGs, NIST cybersecurity controls, or similar compliance frameworks
Experience developing Ansible playbooks and roles for automation
Experience with monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace or Splunk
Advanced vendor or professional certifications in Microsoft, database administration, VMware, AWS, or Security+
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration experience
Active DOE Q-level clearance
