Cryo-EM Scientist - Innovation
Cambridge, UK - Hybrid
This Cambridge based pharmaceutical company are world leaders in drug discovery and development. They have multiple new drug candidates progressing in clinical development and so are looking to grow their image processing team. The team are creating 3D protein structures from imaging data.
You’ll need to have a proven record bringing and developing new ideas in the cryoEM space, so you can improve the companies existing capabilities in this area. Areas they are looking to advance in are sample preparation, data analysis, hardware or software.
You’ll need to be innovator and be the kind of person who can bring in and implement novel ideas and methodologies to help the company advance in the cryogenic electron microscopy field. We are particularly interested in speaking with the kind of people who like doing research that nobody else is doing.
You’ll join a team of like-minded individuals who are all working on developing and enhancing the companies cryo-EM platform, discovering high resolution cryo-EM structures of protein-ligand complexes and guiding multiple structure based drug discovery projects.
Essential Skills
- PhD or MSc plus extensive post study work experience in the cryoEM, single particle analysis space.
- Proven experience developing new innovative ideas in the cryoEm space
- We can be open on the cryo-EM area you specialise in, from sample preparation to map interpretation, to setup and operation of microscopes
- Processing of single particle cryo-EM data and familiarity with cryo-EM software packages
- Excellent communication skills will be needed to work in multidisciplinary teams
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently at times but also as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
