Key Responsibilities
Design and operate observability platforms covering metrics, logs, traces, events, and synthetic monitoring.
Architect high-availability Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, and Datadog deployments.
Develop standards for service instrumentation and structured logging.
Define and enforce SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, dashboards, and alerts.
Build alerting strategies that reduce noise and integrate with on-call systems.
Manage large-scale time-series and log storage balancing retention and performance.
Design distributed tracing pipelines for diagnosing latency and reliability issues.
Develop self-service tools and templates for observability standard adoption.
Drive cost management and label cardinality discipline.
Improve incident response readiness through dashboards and alerting hygiene.
Partner with SRE and platform teams to integrate observability into deployment pipelines.
Evaluate observability vendors and tools based on cost and capability.
Mentor teams on observability fundamentals and SLO-driven operations.
Maintain documentation, onboarding guides, and runbooks.
