Principal Applications Security Engineer in AUSTRALIA

Ideally based at our Bebegu Yumba campus in Townsville or the Cairns Nguma-bada campus.

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE 

The Principal Applications Security Engineer manages and supports JCU's enterprise applications by providing expert applications security guidance. Establishing optimal security protocols to safeguard software and technology platforms university wide. Mitigating compliance-related applications security risks by ensuring latest software development adheres to source code control requirements. Stay proactive in maintaining knowledge of James Cook University’s network, emerging security and network technologies, and their associated vulnerabilities. Collaborate with the software engineering team to integrate security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE 

• Degree qualifications or a combination of relevant experience and education (Applications development or Cyber security)
• Security certifications such as Certified Application Security Professional Plus or Certified Application Security Engineer or similar
• Experience in planning and implementing enterprise applications/software security solutions.
• Strong experience in application security, with a focus on secure software development practices.
• Experience in mentoring, coaching team members in secure by design
• Experience in developing applications security practices, standards and governance process
• Informed analytical and problem-solving skills to judge shifting priorities and work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency in a range of software packages and an ability to adapt to other desktop software quickly.
• Well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to maintain highly effective working relationships.
