Summary:

We are looking for a Software Configuration and Release Engineer to manage the configuration, deployment and ongoing control of complex software applications across development, testing and production environments.

Working closely with Software Engineering, QA, DevOps, Product and Implementation teams, you will ensure software configurations and releases are accurate, controlled, documented and traceable, including customer-specific configurations across SaaS and embedded software environments.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Configure software applications, modules and system settings against defined customer and technical requirements.
• Maintain configuration baselines across development, testing/staging and production environments.
• Manage configuration changes, ensuring they are correctly documented, approved and traceable.
• Support software releases, deployments and version-control activities.

• Maintain configuration records, release documentation, runbooks and standard operating procedures.
• Work closely with Software Engineering, QA, DevOps, Product and Customer Support teams.
• Troubleshoot configuration-related incidents across development, test and production environments.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for configuration issues.
• Configure SaaS environments including feature flags, environment variables and tenant-specific settings.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Manage embedded software configuration including build parameters, configuration files and firmware versions.
• Maintain configuration matrices across different hardware models and software releases.
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate configuration and deployment processes.

Skills & Experience:

• 2+ years' experience within software configuration, systems engineering, release engineering or software support.
• Experience working within a software development or SaaS environment.
• Knowledge of version control systems such as Git and structured software release processes.

• Experience with configuration management, environment management and change control.
• Exposure to embedded or real-time software environments, including firmware/build versioning.
• Strong understanding of dependencies between software and hardware configurations.
• Experience working with customer-facing or implementation teams.
• CI/CD and configuration management experience is highly desirable.
• Scripting or automation experience using Python, PowerShell or similar would be advantageous.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, MongoDB, Linux, AWS/Azure and Agile/Scrum would be beneficial.
• Experience with traffic systems, financial systems or other large-scale/high-reliability platforms would be advantageous.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
